I Graduated

I Graduated

I’m understanding a little more about my salvation this week, and it’s glorious.

It started this past Sunday during worship. I felt so loved and surrounded by his presence. Later that day, I heard the Lord say I’ve graduated. I’m no longer a baby Christian and no longer am I to refer to myself as such. No longer on milk. I’ve matured to solid foods. — I’m a teenager yall! Watch out!

You have authority

I heard the word authority. “You have authority.” My first reaction was, “I don’t care about having authority. That’s for power hungry people. I just want joy.”

And while I didn’t know much about it and wasn’t all that interested in the topic, I knew where God is, there I want to be also. I trusted that he would unpack this for me and reveal what I needed to know and understand.

Over this week, he has pointed me to scripture. Everything I touch seems to speak on the subject of our authority. Last night I could barely sleep, wrestling with this idea of authority. There in a state of half sleep, have conscious, I started to understand why authority was important.

Created to Rule

We were created to rule.

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
Genesis 1:26 NIV

He made us in his likeness so that we can rule. That was his design from the beginning. So what’s the big deal about authority? It’s my purpose and the reason I was created. A person with an unfulfilled purpose is a person living in frustration and turmoil. I know that from experience.

what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?

You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor
.
You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
Psalm 8:3-6 NIV

We had authority powered by an interactive life with God and we lost it with the fall of Genesis 3. But God had a plan of reconciliation. We are reconciled to the Father and restore our position of authority.

In our earthly vessels (our bodies), we carry out His rule; drawing from his infinite power. I’m so excited for this season yall! Adolescence here I come!
